Default Stage 1 air intake tubes now available.

Afternoon all,

Just got back from the workshop working on the ideas for the carbon fibre air intake system. While there we knocked up one of the 'standard' type air intake tubes and have decided to offer these as a stage 1 kit (please forgive the blue silicon in the pictures if anyone wants one it will come with black silicon and stainless jubilee clips.

The major difference between ours and the normal ones is that you dont need to cut the oil breather hose or even replace it! this tube will accept the jaguar push on fitting, reducing the need to chop yours and allowing you to return to stock easily and without damage.

Also the end nearest the cast part of the inlet has been shaped to better resemble the oval shape providing better asthetics and a smoother transition from the round 3 inch T304 stainless pipe to the oval.

I can offer these for £105 complete with the 2x silicon joiners (in black), polished finish and 4x stainless jubilee clips plus fitting instructions. Installation should take no longer then 15-20 mins and the gains have all been proven. I will be doing dyno comparisons between stock, stage 1 and stage 2 (carbon full intake) as soon as the carbon one is done.

Delivery costs to the UK will be £5, if there is any interest from abroad will get the shipping costs for these as and when.

Some pictures.

Cheers.

Wow, that's nice. Definitely quote shipping to the US if you would. I'm checking the GBP->USD conversion rates as of right now... $168 plus shipping, not bad!

Waiting on a cast intake section arriving so that we can start modifiying it for better flow before making the moulds for the carbon fibre stage 2 version.

Thanks for the interest so far.

The advantages of these tubes are well documented mostly by the s type r owners, the standard plastic intake tube has restrictions and a design that cancels the induction noise out. In doing this the efficiency of the tube is compromised. Think of it like gas flowing a cylinder head, smoother and increased flow allows the engine to breathe easier and in so doing creates power.

The s type guys have seen rolling road increases of upto 15 chp from this mod alone. I will be carrying out tests once my stage 2 tube is completed to show gains.

If you use the search function you can read other threads about this subject
Hope that helps.

Would stage 2 then have something to do with the airbox? I would think there would be more restriction there than the air intake tube, but if your picking up 15 chp(crank?) then I guess not.

In actual fact the airbox is ok, removing the flap on the front of it along with the standard 'cold air feed' does not offer a restriction. The stage 2 relates to the cast aluminium pipe that goes from the throttle body to the air intake tube, on removing this it was again apparent that there is room for improvement as far as smoothing out the airflow goes. The plan is to produce a one piece deal to go from maf to throttle body creating the smoothest possible route. As this is something new I will be testing a mockup version on the rolling road to confirm an increase in crank horse power (chp) before offering the units out. If there is no proven gain I won't have them made.

After that I will be following the induction route to its next port of call, the supercharger itself to see what can be done with that.
