YAY TOP GEAR! lol Jim can attest to what a great show it is its my favorite TV show on earth, i eagerly await its weekly release and download it. America is supposed to have a version but its up in the air.

Jeremy Clarksons reviews usually go like that, completely hard to call how he feels until the end.

He is right tho, ive driven the Vantage and with the exception of the exhaust note it cant touch the XKR.

 

That video was part of my decision to get my XKR..early 08. Love it!!
Speaking of the Vantage..couple days ago had the pleasure of reeling one in that decided too blast off the line at a light!!....was right behind'm admiring it (08 black/black conv), when he took off...caught it pretty quick.....my son with me and was lovin it!!! That car is a real looker though. He was surprised I caught'm so easily.

when I saw that video I knew I had to post it here. They ought to have it running in every Jag dealership in the country. When I decide to sell my 01 XK8 coupe, I think maybe I'll shop for an XKR. But performance aside, the XK series is a singularly beautiful automobile. Mine turns heads in South Florida where exotics are a dime a dozen.

 

Top Gear is my favorite program, and I have all of the seasons downlaoded. There are several reviews they have done on them over the years. One where they went to a sand flat and ran a Jag, a Porsche, and something else. They all uninamiously voted the XKR the winner. Another where Clarkson drove a Paramount Performance "Enhanced" XKR. Still another where they drove the Droptop version against a Merc and a Bimmer. They chose the Shaguar. Remember, they are all British, but they are very fair in their reviews so I believe them.

The only thing that keeps the Jag XKR from being "cool or subzero" on the "Cool Wall" was that the trunk was designed so that fat businessmen could fit their golf clubs in it (their words) and it looked too much like an Aston Martin (I wonder why). They said that had the "boot been just small enough to prevent a golf club from squeezing in, it would be a cool car."

 

Always gives me a rush to see that video come up on the forums about once a year, I agree...the dealers would sell more of them if they showed that video clip over and over on those high dollar plasmas they have mounted everywhere.

That video is dead on. I usually autocross with a 600hp Cobra replica. Last April on a rainy track day I took my 09XKR instead of my open roadster. Not only did I stay dry and have heated seats on a driving rainy 40degree day but on the 2.2mile loop my track times were almost as good as my cobra on a dry day and I was able to beat the majority of the Porsche's and all of the BMW's that were there that day. It is a really remarkable car that just begs to be tossed around the track.

 

+1 here. That review was a big reason I went with the XKR over the M6.

I also like the video of Clarkson drifting a XK while wearing scuba fins.

It would be interesting if Top Gear did an updated comparison with the 2010 models. Jaguar XKR - 510 hp vs the Aston Martin Vantage - 420 hp.
