RE: Is the X-Type any good in snow?
i think the funny part of that video.. is the car handled great and it does ive done those kind of things in a x type.. but the x in the video is a 1st generation x type.. 2002-2003.75 and that had a real all wheel drive system.. transfer case with viscous coupling and it handled great.. but 2004 onward was a joke, no viscous.. car handles poor and the car turns into a real wheel drive car when pushed... 2004 and on has no viscous coupling and even if 2002-2004 x type has gotten a replacement transfer case... he just lost his viscous coupling.. and has got a usless tranfer case.. that's why the transfer case pricing has gone down from $6000 to 3000 .

Actually my car without dsc is basically rear wheel drive! Love that video that has been and will always be my favorite x video!
One thing I noticed though I never paid any attention to was the sport model with the 16" rims! Just shows you that the smaller not as wide rims/tires handle snow better or did those rims come stock out your way Jim?
Hey ancient you wanna go driving well do it tomorrow is supposed to be a good day for it! Although I don't even have all weathers I have snow tires and one's that need to be replaced at that! Although as long as I drive with that in mind they don't need replacing...to be able to push the limits they need replacing though!

My jag does decent in the snow we recently got 15+ inches here. Its supposed to snow a foot again tomorrow on my trek to Vermont. I have low profile primarily road/wet tires not all seasons. My car does ok until the slush builds up on the roads or if its the heavy stuff then my car slips and slides. If I had decent all weather tires I am sure it would do far better.

Nice one Dennis.............Is that upgraded dicsc ( rotors ) you have there by the looks of it? EBC?
Have you thought about upgrading the pads or have you already visited this subject?
The stock braking on the X is very poor to say the least and there's a lot of us here have alreay upgraded.

Thanks Jim,good eye,
I did a lot of research and found that EBC Sport Rotors combined with Akebono Eruo pads was the best combination for brakes..I did all four corners at once and I must say they are wonderful...
The factory pads had to be the dirtiest set of pads next to Land Rover and Mercedes...[:@]

Yeah, they make a huge difference to the stopping power thats for sure Dennis.
Either you painted your calipers silver like mine / they're new / or just in really great shape?
Talking of which, when I repainted the calipers I also did my back boxes on the exhaust system as they were tired n dirty looking.....took away from the look of the nice shiny tailpipes
There's a post of it somewhere with pics
