Default Radio audio what does red-green wire do ground??

I am following the Haynes manual page 12-36:

Switched 12V green orange
phone Purple orange
12V always on brown red

Speakers gray purple + gray red
gray pink + gray orange

black gray + orange purple
black white + green pink

I am left with a RED-GREEN and I do not have a GREEN-WHITE as on diagram for ground. I have a GREEN-RED. By exclusion principle, it should be ground. I have just never had a ground featuring the color red......

Hi High123bird,

What is the year, model and engine of your Jag? Wiring colors can vary by model year and even VIN. It helps if you visit your User Control Panel (User CP) and edit your signature to include this information show it will appear in all of your posts.

Thanks!

Don

It is a nineteenhundredninetyfour 4.0. There were no ill effects of not connecting the wire. I suspect it was a headlights-on signal for display illumination purposes. Thanks, Bo

Hi Bo,

This forum is for the XJ40, built from 1987 to 1994. You don't say which model your 84 4.0 is, but you may want to find the correct forum.

Cheers,

Don

Hi Bo,

Thanks for editing your post to correct the model year!

You can download the official Jaguar wiring diagrams at this link:

Jaguar XJ40 Electrical Guide 1993-1994

If your car is a late '94 model, it is possible that your wiring is different in some respects. I do not know of a wiring diagram specifically for the 1994.5 cars.

Cheers,

Don
