Default Where to wire in aux gauge light?

So I have a aftermarket oil pressure gauge installed into my 1994 XJ40 and I am curious if anyone has a suggestion where I could easily tap into the system with as little modification as possible to pick up a power source for the instrument illumination light for this extra gauge. Obviously I would prefer a power source that would be tied into the actual dash cluster lamps.

Hi Steve,

One good option would be the Red wire with Orange tracer line that runs from the dimmer module in the steering column to power the dimmable lighting in the instrument cluster. The Red wire with Light Green tracer line is the override output, which does not dim when the dimmer knob is adjusted.

See pdf page 42 in the Electrical Guide:

Jaguar XJ40 Electrical Guide 1993-1994

Cheers,

Don
