Default Headlamps all over the place

I recently bought a 98 xjr. The body is pretty good for it age no rust that I can see.

However the headlamps are faulty. When I viewed the car with the seller it was daylight and the seller switched on the headlights on low beam. I didn't realise until much later that full beam wasn't working correctly.

On full bean the driver side full beam lamp is focused towards the sky and on the passenger side the lamp is not working at all. The car was sold to me with a brand knew mot. how did this car pass an mot with the headlamps in this state!

Some time the passenger side low beam lamp doesn't light up and sometimes it ok. Is there a relay for the lamps some place? What should I check for.

I'm knew the jaguar cars. well to be honest I knew the modem cars as I have always until recently ran old cars 1950's and 60's which are easy to fix by myself. No complicated systems in some of the old classics I've owned. the xjr is going to become a learning curve for me. what about those lamps, what to do?
