Hiya to all the UK members. I've just become the proud owner of a cat

I'm in North Lincolnshire and looking forward to learning all I can about the Jaguar.

I've been reading through the forums and have picked up a lot of very useful info already (P0174/0171 codes)

Still confused as to wether the key fob can be replaced without recording as I did read the early cars don't need it doing. The one i have looks like it's been chewed on lol

Look forward to chatting

Regards

Steve

Hello and welcome, from Lincoln myself. Shouldnt have a problem replacing your fob, you just need the programming instructions hidden within this forum somewhere.

Steve,

Is that a typo for recoding .....?

All fobs for the vehicle do need to be coded at the same time.

Hiya Gentlemen,

Thanks for the warm welcome

Graham,

As it stands at the moment I have one key and one fob unit. The problem I have is the fob looks like it has been eaten by a hamster and the buttons work when they please. I did consider some key blanks from flea bay but then read a post which put me off! At some piont I will need a spare key and fob so as to allow the better half to use the cat.

I did read somewhere that the early S Types did'nt have a programmed key but think this may not be true

I think all the S-Types fobs will need programming but best bet is to ask the question in the tech section:

S-Type / S type R Supercharged V8 - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum

A check on ebay turned up plant of 'repair kits' consisting of a new case and buttons. If the guys in the tech section can confirm the guts of yours will swap over without reprogramming, it's a cheap solution.
