Default Possible Car Tax Reminder Virus (UK)

Hi Guys

Just got a Car Tax reminder from someone called Kate who supposedly works for the GOV DVLA

Click on this at your Peril

Instead just Check if your Car is Taxed on the Official Gov Website

If you just hover over this (without clicking!) it reveals a String of Letters and Numbers (The Classic Signs of a Virus) maybe some 'Geek' on here would like to confirm

Nice Boat Steve!

Not sure where this Thread was moved to as I originally Posted it on the XJS Forum!

You can also get this Virus, when you get an email saying you have Won a Tool Box or a Pressure Washer from Harbor Freight!

Mousing without 'Clicking' (to see that string of numbers) will defeat them every time! and then you just have to delete the Message

But if you Suspect that you know who sent you a Virus but can't prove it or are not sure who it was from then here is what to do

Get yourself an extra Gmail address and only use that gmail address for the Virus Suspect alone and not for anyone else

Then if your Virus Suspect takes the bait and responds to that gmail address, then you have got them bang to rights and then they wouldn't dare take the risk messing with you again

Anyway glad I could help

Alex
