Recomendations for Jaguar 308 electrical and mechanical gurus
Hello UK types seem to have introduced myself to American cousins already!
i am returning to jaguarland having previously entertained myself with an xj6 and a Daimler XJ40 4.0.
I have acquired a very well kept silver XJ 308 3.2 sport 2001. My dream car would be an XKR but you cant buy one in leominster auction for 800!!!
117 thousand miles fsh excellent bodywork black leather interior...like new. but it does get multiple dashboard warnings after about 20 minutes...
i have fitted a top of the line battery and the warnings reappeared after 20 minutes,
will be checking the earths and alternator contacts next.
no codes logged by our local garage and autoelectritian...There may have been a transient can-bus code error but couldnt find that error again...
so its earth checks and clean then well see .The car has done 400 miles now and functions normally!!! except the speedo rev and temp gauge going to bed!
Hence my reposting here to see if you expierienced and wise senior members can recomend a local guru/jaguar healer......near to west wales Tregaron.
Many thanks Carl x
t"he error message "low brake fluid ,acs unavailable, gearbox fault, then restricted performance mode comes up in sequence....followed by the speedometer rev counter and temp gauge saying goodbye...the car seems to work perfectly as the gremlins have fun...! Left overnight the messages dissapear to return after another random time gap!
Have taken car to garage and autoelectritian to look for error codes but non are recorded! Does the forum know of an electrical magician in west wales or have had a similar sequence pointing to one of the components involved...seems odd as it seems to imply the acs/abs/gearbox and instrument computers are all ganging up! Appart from these above the car is in remarkably good condition and seems a shame to give up on the old girl...."

Have a look at the positive lead connector at the false bulkhead, It is a brass stud that passes through the plastic, and can become corroded on one or both sides.
Also have a look at the power block on the front face of the boot, to the left of the spare wheel ( little black box ) these can corrode as well.
