Hi all, well had a wee thought earlier about another few events, but after a recent trip I thought to myself, why not one of my favourite trips that everyone can experience?
The run / meet is on!!
4 DAYS today
It's from Stirling to Fort William, meeting at Stirling services as it's just so handy and travelling from there.
The plan is to meet at 8.30am to travel to Fort William arriving around 11.30am and head for lunch to the Glen Nevis Inn at around 12pm Sunday 22nd July
It's only around 113 miles but would take around 3 hours, perhaps less on some of the most stunning roads surrounded by amazing scenery you can imagine ( subject to the weather of course )
Leave Stirling services and head for Callander and onwards through Strathyre and Lochearnhead on the A84 / A85 to Tyndrum, then Bridge of Orchy and down through Glencoe ( where the Campbells allegedly murdered the McDonalds in 1692 ) NOT guilty your honour!!
Through Glencoe and onwards down past Glencoe falls ( a particular favourite of mine ) and on to Fort William
Lunch provisionally at the Glen Nevis Inn and Bunkhouse at 12pm, then the craic / banter before heading back in reverse, where you'll see it from a totally different perspective. If conditions are right and the sun plays ball, it'll be one helluva road trip, long sweeping straights, plenty of bends and scenery to die for.
This would be a trip to enjoy the scenery, but the roads at the same time and make decent progress in places
Just a thought and an idea at present, that may come to fruition, time will tell.....

Well up and at them at 06.45 this Sunday morning, Tress back at 7.30 after night shift, all sorted good to go and left at 8.00am arriving at Stirling around 8.10am
I sent a reminder text of the days details, addresses and post codes etc, also to ensure Davy Kerner is up and hasn't slept in
The weather was actually decent, dry if a little overcast but fairly warm too, this would change a little later...
We arrived and just had time for a coffee, then as everyone was there it was time to go and off we went, quite a civilised little convoy with 15 cars and 25 people all told in the end. Things were fairly steady up to Callander and beyond and then we made a little better headway, but fairly steady. I was expecting a stream of Jags to fly past but everyone seemed contented, ( except Chris, who in my old X358 had to overtake the new ride......still one gorgeous looking car and found myself wondering why I sold her lol )
It was a steady drive truth be told, with a few overtakes here n there, the convoy more or less intact to some degree. We all smiled as 15 Jags sailed past the standing traffic police at Lochearnhead, then perhaps a wry smile at the car lying on its roof the other end of Crianlarich on the bad bend that they clearly didn't make.
I think it was Bob who mentioned that the mountain rescue were out in force too, that kind of day it seemed.
We all generally arrived without incident at the Glen Nevis around 11.10am so a little early as it didn't open till 12pm, a perfect opportunity to have a catch up
Lunch was a leisurely affair, they had us split over 2 tables but we more or less had the place to ourselves and the conversation flowed, plenty of chat and banter and more than a few laughs. The Steak and Ale pie seemed to be the favourite, a real hit and pretty damn good it was too.
Myself, Tress and Martin head of out to get some fresh air and have a cigarette / coffee etc, whilst others indulged in desserts before coming out to have the craic.
That took us till around 3pm before most of us head off back home, some heading the opposite direction to Inverness and ultimately Aberdeen, we made good time and were at the daughters around 5.20pm for an hour or so, before heading home to the sofa waiting to welcome us as we walked through the door, coffee, tv and chill.
A good day all round and most seemed to enjoy it, a no frills run / meet event....done!
A few pics of the day below, hopefully others have pics to share too....
Thanks to one and all for coming and making a good day better, see you all soon..
