Hi everyone I have a problem with the battery light staying on after jump starting my s type diesel. I thought it maybe the alternator again as I had it reconditioned in January I have been dack to alternator man he has bench tested it and sead it is fine it is charging at 13.72 volts .the battery is holding a charge of 12.56 volts I also have noticed that my heated windows front and rear aren't working and my window washers also I have gone through all fuses fine .has anyone had similar problems ,if anyone can help it would be appreciated thanks.
Did you use the recommended procedure? The negative lead must NEVER be connnected directly to the battery and the donor vehicle engine should preferably not be running.
Several members have fried sensitive electronic components by ignoring the warnings.
Thanks Graham for your reply no I contacted the negative to the body were the negative lead go's to and the charging car was running, I have checked the voltage on the three pin plug going to the alternator the isn't a permanent live should the be and if so what damaged may have akerd.
Most of our S-Type owners have the petrol versions but petrol or diesel engine doesn't really matter with this electrical issue. I recommend a repost in our S-Type forum for advice from members with the same model: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ed-v8-x200-15/
They will have the electrical schematics and know a lot more about this model than I do!
