Default turbo

Hi all, I have an XJ 2.7 diesel that is really difficult to start and when it does it leaks large amounts of oil from the N/S (left) turbo to cat joint. It seems that the oil is not getting into the inlet system only the exhaust side. Ideas please and how hard is it to change a turbo?

Updating the above post.
Just removed the N/S cat/downpipe and it's not engine oil but diesel in the turbo on the exhaust side, still baffled.

You might be better off posting this in the XJ engine forum, it will reach a much larger pool of viewers.
I wouldn't drive it though!
