ALSO today, I have had a response from the Brighton & Hove Parking team regarding the pay and display parking rates. they say that we have to bear in mind that the charging rates may change in April, but currently we are looking at the following rates: 1 hour £3.20, 2 hours £5.20, 4 hours £10.40, and 11 hours £15.60.

I realise this is quite steep, but there is little I can do about it this year - sorry :-( I will however look into raising either sponsorship to cover these costs or maybe an alternate venue for next year.

Meanwhile I will continue working on everything else for this years event, in an effort to keep any other costs off the menu for everyone :-)

Hi Steve, count me in for Pease Pottage + main meet (F-Type, no passengers).

Thanks.

Edit: Brighton uses the paybyphone app for anyone that wants to set it up on their phone prior to the day (saves fishing around in pockets for change, or in this case, notes! &#128513.

This event will be taking place on 29th May 2016 - with the main venue being Madiera Drive on the Brighton seafront as usual.

It is a Jaguar EXCLUSIVE event, and I am working on gaining much more industry support than previously, and ensuring that everyone has a fantastic day to remember.

The initial meeting point will be Pease Pottage Services, with an indoor area aset aside for us and 20% discount on anything from Costa (remember to say you are with the JaguarForums.com event to get your discount) to help get your day started. The Welcome Packs will be handed out at this point, and the main features of the day covered.

Then there will be a convoy down to the Brighton seafront creating a huge Jaguar statement with up to 100 cars, all setting up camp in one huge parking block in Madiera Drive.

There will be a fixed price breakfast laid on for attendees on arrival in Brighton, at a cost of £4.99 for the recommended (two of everything :-)) breakfast, plus drinks at individual prices or £2.60 for unlimited drinks. We are booked in the Harvester in Madiera Drive - remember to say you are with the JaguarForumns.com event when ordering.

The only other cost for the day is the parking which is likely to be £3.20 for one hour, £5.20 for 2 hours, £10.40 for 4 hours or £15.60 for 11 hours (Brighton Council are reviewing the rates in April though ).

CaptainHam has suggested setting up & using the pay by phone parking app on your phone prior to the day (saves fishing around in pockets for change, or in this case, notes)

The main meet will follow on from then with as much going on as I can pull together for us including a free prize draw for a number of must-have goodies, industry reps (see Industry Attendees list below to see who will have reps onsite) for you to quiz with problems, discounts etc etc. Not forgetting that this is your chance to meet up with all the people you know online, maybe advise them on any issues you have solved or figured and for others to help you out with any issues and to check out up to 100 Jaguars including the new Jaguar F-Pace AWD!!

If you would like to sign up for this event please just pop a post on the thread inc how many will likely be coming, and car details, and I will add you in, noting you can join just the main event, or the event and convoy. If you prefer, you are also very welcome to sign up by dropping a line to JaguarForumsUK@solidlinux.co.uk :-)

Hi Haddock - I am still on the case regarding event accomodation - could you let me know how many there is likely to be in your group and how many cars are involved? Nearer the time I could do with knowing the cars, years and how many people too if possible. I will be updating the thread as soon as I have some results on this.

OK, quite a bit has been happening this week, and it is only Tuesday so here is a quick summary of where we are at this moment in time..

We now have 45 Jaguars and 71 attendees, 12 official event sponsors, not one but two confirmed venues, fixed price breakfast booked, the parking charges are now known, We have discount codes, freebies, free prize draw, three companies onsite to meet everyone and answer all and any questions, banner signing for posterity, photo shoots by an event photographer professional, and EVEN 20% off your drinks at the first venue :-)

We still need to see if we can achieve our target of 100 Jaguars, finalise accomodation arrangements for those travelling some distance to attend, follow up any last sponsorship leads etc., finish producing the Welcome Pack info, and we will be almost there :-)

OK, I am still not getting any results regarding accomodation, well not results that I am looking for :-( so I apologise for that - I will keep working on it, but maybe need to vary my method..

Meanwhile however there is one establishment that is well placed for Crawley Town Centre, has very easy access to our event start point, and is easy to locate when travelling to it:

Holiday Inn Express
The Squareabout
Haslett Avenue East,
CRAWLEY, RH10 1UA
ENGLAND, UK
Email: reception@hiexpresscrawley.co.uk
Phone: +44 (0)1293 525 523

If I do manage to get a response I am looking for (ie an event attendee discount), from any of the hotels best placed/priced for us I will let you guys know, but have to admit I have given up holding my breath for the moment.

and before you ask - yes the Squareabout is real lol - it is literally a large square roundabout - upto 10 years ago or so it was just a square shaped roundabout with a field in the middle.. now it has quite a large Holiday Inn Express, Harvester, and onsite parking in place of the field :-)

Hi Steve , according to Brighton / Hove own website , they are removing quite a few of their on-street machines in an effort to save money. I think that it may be prudent to check in case we all have to pay by this method .. here's the link to the planned removal mate. https://www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/con...ines-are-going .. thanks , pauljag

Here is the response from Brighton & Hoves Parking Team.. The Car Park they reference would reduce parking costs significantly but we would likely need every space it has, and still not necessarily fit.. *but* it is a last minute venue variation if we want and can get to site early enough.. meanwhile though it sounds like all the cash machines are remaining in place in Madeira Drive which is good news :-)

There are ongoing works on Madeira Drive regarding the structural integrity of Madeira Terrace which has impacted upon the number of available parking spaces and locations of pay & display machines – the project you refer to regarding the removal of half of the on-street cash machines has a minimal impact on Madeira Drive. There should be at least 8 machines available for use when your event is scheduled and in addition to the on-street bay parking on Madeira Drive there is Black Rock car park which is a short walk away and might prove of interest to your attendees. For more information about Black Rock car park please see here.

Hi Tinker, Thankyou very much for that.. It is a great potential venue.

I would like to hold onto it as a potential site for next year if I may - my reason being that our current venue has a lot of family orientated facilities available plus quite significant footfall of tourists and people wanting to see the cars :-)

I am however currently building a list of possible venues for next year - I want to stay in the Brighton & Hove area but am very open to options possibly other than Madiera Drive.. should anyone have any other ideas on venues just let me know and I'll add them to my list of possibles.

Meanwhile please keep an eye on this space I will be putting up the details of the new accomodation deal we have for this years event :-)

OK the accomodation deal, exclusive to our event, is as follows:

The address & contact details are as below:

Holiday Inn Express
The Squareabout
Haslett Avenue East,
CRAWLEY, RH10 1UA
ENGLAND, UK
Email: reception@hiexpresscrawley.co.uk
Phone: +44 (0)1293 525 523

We (as an event) have requested 10 rooms to be reserved for us at a discounted rate for Friday & Saturday night. The rooms would normally cost in the range of £59 - £65 per night but have been reduced to a fixed price of £54 a night for us. This does include breakfast if wanted, free wi-fi, and parking.

It will take them a day or so to set this up for us, but if you want to take advantage of this offer please email them, or call them quoting that you are with the 'JaguarForums.com event'. You will need to provide credit or debit card details to guarantee your booking.

The rooms will be reserved exclusively for attendees to book until the end of April..
