Default Wanted: XK8 /XKR

Anyone thinking of selling their xk8 or XKR ? My problem is that i`m in Aberdeenshire and cant get away that easily and most are down in Englandshire

Not committing at this stage but I`ve looked at a couple of very tired examples for very silly money.

thanks

Hi, I was in same boat as you a couple of years back, as in, I live in Aberdeen and desired an XKR! I started looking for an XKR about December 2013, I was speific in what I was wanting, I wanted a black convertible 'R' MY2007+. I was also wanting full service history and mileage under 40K. I knew I wasn't going to get that up in NE Scotland, as very few came up in the local press / websites, so I cast my net wider. That said, I was still looking local just in case. Very few cars that did pop up locally but were not of the spec I was looking for, one thing they did have was the 'Aberdeen Premium' i.e. noticeably more expensive than the ones down south. I looked at quite a few, by looked at I mean spoke to owners on the phone, got numerous photo's, e-mails containing history and some videos of specific cars. I found Autotrader one of the best sites for searching for cars. It took almost 6 months to find the right car, again phone calls, e-mails etc. I flew to London on a redeye on a Monday morning, the seller picked me up at Gatwick in the car, he drove to his office we discussed the car I took it for a drive, negotiated a price (transaction via internet banking) and he invited me to his house for dinner before I drove back to Aberdeen. Just in case the deal fell through there were a couple of others similar that I had in my back pocket to look at. All I can say is that if you have specifics for a car then be prepared to travel, I was looking to spend more on a car than I had in the past and I was determined to get exactly what I wanted. All said and done there are very few XK/XKR come up for sale in Aberdeen and our local dealer is a little pricey! Good hunting!!

+1 on traveling to find the right car.

My current XK came from the Jaguar Dealer in Maidstone. Ones prior to that from Jaguar Dealers in Ayr, Nottingham, and Liverpool.

Congrats on getting what you were looking for without the grief of travelling! Here's hoping the weather holds out for a wee while longer for you to get the top down. If you get a chance stick up a few pics
