Question What way do I go?

I'm after info with regards to chipping my 2005 "S" type diesel sport.
Do I just go and buy a little box the plug it in and if so which is the one to buy?
Or do I have the Jags ecu remapped and who's best at that?
Now with the remapping of the ecu how will I get on when I put the vehicle in for a service at the Jag main dealer, will I loose it, should I warn them so that its not returned to standard. But perhaps I should just leave alone.

All info will be much appreciated.

As it's a diesel, you're likely to get more relevant information here from UK members.

However, if no one in the UK Regional section responds, I can move it to the S-Type section for you.

This might get a better response in the S-Type forum. I don't see why a Jaguar main agent cannot service the car for you. I assume the car is out of warranty. However, if you get an engine blow-up, Jaguar will not help you.

Hey Cammy,
looking for a little more power, perhaps slightly better economy eh?

I've had 3 vehicles all remapped over the last 3 years.

Ford Mondeo 2.2 ST Tdci ( same engine as in the Xa type 2.2 )
This was remapped from 155bhp to 195 bhp by Seditas of Ayr £400

Saab 93 1.9 Tid Vecor Sport - remapped from 150 bhp to 175 bhp this done by Saab to retain warranty £900

Audi A6 remapped from 140 bhp to 176bhp this done by Audi to retain warranty o nthe vehicle as it was new.

I've never been a fan of the tuning boxes, unsure why really to be honest. All I know is I've seen a few negative posts about them and never had any issues with my remaps of the ECU.

The tuning boxes ( as I understand it ) basically play with your air / fuel mixture to achieve resulsts whereas the Remapping of the ECU is more indepth.

Here's a link to a tuning box company though for info...
Jaguar - Speedhawk Diesel Tuning Box - Common Rail

Check this link here for Rocket Rons info on tuning boxes if you're interested.

Failing that get yourself a trusted tuner and get her remapped.

If the dealer doesn't know you have a remap and they flash the ECU for any reason or do any work on this without telling you, you will lose the map
The tuning boxes can easily be removed prior to going into the garage and then re installed later.

Hope this helps some
