new to this have a 2001 3.0 auto s-type jag that will no go into reverse gear but gosse into drive can anyone help with this thanks vibman

 

Possible causes - reverse solenoid issue, (could be stuck or shot) shifter issue, haeve you checked the shifter cable that goes from the shifter to the trans? Finally, when was the trans fluid serviced last?

 

Hmmm, interesting, because you pass 'R' on the way to '' (Drive). suggest you check the shift cable at the transmission end as suggested. If no joy, (i.e it all looks tickety-boo), then you need to see an auto box specialist. There are plenty around, you don't need to go to a Jaguar main dealer, this box is used by many car makers.
