XKR Throttle body urgently required.

XKR Throttle body urgently required.
I am in desperate need of a throttle body for my 2001 XKR (the later type without the vacuum valve) and have looked on the interweb and called all the Jag breakers that I know of and can find nothing around. Can't afford a new TB at the moment and what was an annoying and only intermittent problem has become a full blown, virtually undrivable condition. My wifes Shogun unexpectedly expired a couple of days ago and the obvious thing was for her to use the Jag but that doesn't want to play either!
I have cleaned the TB several times now, have removed both the PPS and TPS plugs and checked / cleaned the pins (they are gold) but still not reliable enough to have my wife driving it as she is terrified it will break down on her with the kids in it etc.
Does anyone know where I can lay my hands on one please? Any help really appreciated.
Thanks,
Andy

The thing that usually fails with the Throttle Body is the Throttle Position Sensor.
If this is the problem with yours then there's a replacement listed on ebay UK:
Throttle Position Sensor For 1999-2002 Jaguar XK8 1999-2003 Jaguar XJ8 UK | eBay
A lot cheaper than a new or used TB.

Thank you Plums and Graham.
Plums, I will have a go at your suggestion and see if that makes a difference. Key position 1 is I assume 'ignition on'?
Graham, I did see that sensor this morning and I know that the most recent set of codes have related to the TPS and so this is an option that I am considering. I am slightly put off by the fact that this is a chinese copy and would be more than upset if I ended up damaging the ECU by fitting a 'not fit for purpose' sensor, but I seem to be running out of options?? There have also been circuit 1 codes relating to the PPS which is why I really wanted to replace the whole TB.
As I've written this, I have reached the decision to purchase the sensor Graham pointed out and will let you know how I get on. I would still be very interested if anyone knows of a complete TB that I could buy.
Thanks,
Andy

Andy,
I hope the sensor fixes the problem but if not, try Eurojag in Darlington - they usually have TB's available.

Thanks for that Graham. I haven't updated this thread yet as I'm pursuing several options at the moment. I fitted the new TP sensor during the week and managed to set up the throttle and all seemed well. Then the problem re occurred and I had the same P1121 code again.
I then realised my mistake: my Autel code reader which is installed with manufacturer specific codes shows P1121 is the Throttle Position Sensor Circuit Intermittent High Voltage but.....the Jaguar DTC Summary in JTIS says it is the Pedal position sensor misreading between the two circuits. I've been chasing the wrong problem!
I have spoken to Eurojag and other breakers several times but no one seems to have a TB in stock and they have a list of people looking for one.

Thanks Graham, I've got that on my laptop, just wished I'd gone back through the DTCs and not let myself get led astray by my code reader!
I was talking with a very helpful parts guy at Taunton Jaguar in Somerset who are listing three 4.0 throttle bodies on Ebay, brand new for only £220 each, Pt. No. C2A1470. I couldn't tell from the photo, but it is the earlier style TB with the vacuum valve on it. Mine is the later style which is air assisted, Pt. No. LNE156BA which now supersedes to C2A1445.
Guess I'll just have to keep looking.

I wonder if one of the MODs might consider moving this thread to the X100 Forum to see if someone there might know of a throttle body lurking in the darkness somewhere!
Also, on a more technical note, the EPC shows the throttle body for my VIN break: A00083 - A30644 to be the 'air assisted' type and the diagram shows a convoluted hose coming off the back of the TB, coming over the top and splitting into two to go to the two banks. This hose doesn't exist on my engine, or if it does I can't see it.
This makes me wonder if there is a different TB that can be used? I'd be grateful if someone more experienced could shed some light on this please.
Thanks,
Andy

Andy,
We don't like WTB (Wanted to Buy) or FS (For Sale) posts in the model tech forums because they soon become irrelevant as items are bought and sold but then clutter the tech forum forever more. PRIVATE For Sale / Trade or Buy Classifieds is the place to post an Ad.
My 2001 XK8 was VIN A25235 which is the same range as yours. Here's a view of the TB - one showing LH and the other the RH for you to compare:
When mine failed, I just looked for one from the same MY of XK8 or XJ8.
