XKR 99 headgasket blown....
Got a rough idle today when heading out to work... got worse. Connected my obdII scanner en got misfire @cilinder one. And low coolant level at the same time. There was pressure escaping from the water reservoir cap... drove home with the injector of cylinder one disconnected (to prevent damage from the fuel degreasing the cylinder wall) . Switched the coil packs between 1 and 2, no change, plug was very black en smelled of fuel. changed it. But problem remains. My initial diagnose is the head gasket of cylinder 1 has gone and is pushing air inside my cooling system..
Anyone a similar experience ?
Samuel

Sounds like some form of ignition issue to me, or possibly a leaking injector. I am no expert, but normally, if it was simply coolant leaking in the combustion chamber, that plug would be literally steam cleaned, and you would see white smoke out the exhaust. I would definitely do more research before committing to replacing the head gasket...
Did you say you drove some with the injector disconnected, and the plug still smelled like fuel? I would spend some time checking the injector. Maybe you can release the fuel pressure, clean and vent the cylinder in question until there is no gas smell, then bring the fuel pressure up again (ignition on, without running the engine). If that cylinder eventually smells like gas, it would point towards the injector not holding static pressure. Just a thought. Best of luck. Keep us posted.
