2013 Cars & Coffee, Great Falls, VA - Katie's
Katie's happens every Saturday, year 'round. The size of the turnout is dependent on:
1.) Is there salt on the roads?
2.) Is it raining, hard?
3.) Is there snow on the ground?
Each of those factors thins the herd, but it takes extremes of any of these to make for a disappointingly small crowd. AND... I have seen, time and again, when we have a tiny showing one week, the very same marginal weather cannot keep a good crowd away the next week. It seems that the regulars get 'cabin fever', and reliably show up the week after a partial 'rain-out'.
The gathering at Katie's is unique, from the people to the cars that show up. Real variety, every week. On even a 'so-so' Saturday, you'll certainly see exotics (Ferraris, Lambos, Astons) and hot rods (rat rod trucks, muscle cars), and classic domestic & import cars. Look at the pictures I post in this thread for proof.
The bulk of the cars are there between 7AM and 9AM. I believe everyone who is in the area, or can get here with a reasonable drive, should come at least once. I go every week.

Looks like the Jaguar owners were waiting for April to come out. We had a great bunch of cars there - XKEs, XKs, and even an XK-150! (...and, I had a brand-new AM Vanquish park next to my XK Coupe!)

Exotics were the order of the day at Katie's today. What was there? Well, for starters, a Bugatti Veyron (courtesy of VW of America), a McLaren MP4-12C Spyder, and an F40.

More from today. Some nice Jaguars there, among many, many others. First picture is the front lot - at 7:00AM! I hope to start getting this sort of Jaguar presence at the Sunday morning Fair Lakes Cars & Coffee (at Kohl's).

Colder temperatures and heavy overcast kept attendance down - certainly nowhere near last week's Veyron circus. That doesn't mean there weren't a lot of interesting cars, though.

A special gathering of Corvettes today - Katie's special guest Dave McLellan, the Chief Engineer at Corvette from 1975-92, was there. Dave was responsible for the original ZR-1 project, among other things.
Of course, a lot more was there...

P.S.: Please consider bringing your Jaguar to our special event, Sunday, May 19th at Fair Lakes -

It threatened rain all morning, and finally started sprinkling a little around 8:30AM. Despite the weather, we had quite a good selection of cars today, including a nice collection of Jaguars and other British cars.
I'm sure hoping we can get this many Jaguars (or more) at our Fair Lakes event tomorrow (05/19/13, 8:00AM - 10:00AM):

More from today... That last picture is a Miata, with a flat-black hood. The owner put pieces of chalk on the hood, and had people write on it. (Though I'm thinking it's not a great idea to encourage 'vandalizing'.)
