2014 Fair Lakes, VA C & C (Kohl's) Thread
Here is our garage, with our Lotus Elise, Jaguar XK, and my wife's Smart. What you don't see is the lawn tractor parked in front of the Jaguar. All this, in a two-car garage. My wife just backs the Smart in, sideways, behind the Lotus.

A great turnout, as you would expect on a good-weather holiday weekend. Bob Andretta and I brought out our XKs.
That's XKE-owner Cheryl Fitzgerald in the '57 Chevy she just bought.
A lot of police activity on the lot, but it was off to the side, and involved somebody that was parked on the Kohl's lot long before anybody got there for C & C. Whatever it was, it involved several police vehicles, the guy was cuffed, his car was flat-bedded, and his dog was taken away. We're hoping that a visible police presence can discourage the couple of people who can't seem to resist infantile demonstrations of speed. (The rest of us enjoy meeting here every week, and don't appreciate the kind of attention that behavior garners.) If we all act more-or-less like adults, we can continue to enjoy this venue.

The Lotus guys used the Fair Lakes event as a starting point for a drive out to Purcellville on Sunday. A few of us got to the lot early, to grab breakfast and talk to friends before moving over to the Dick's Sporting Goods lot, to stage for our drive. Here are a few pictures I took before we left.
The last 4 pictures are at the winery in Purcellville,Va.

Great weather - clear, and just a bit cool, meant a big turnout was a certainty. Bobert and I brought our XKs out - his XKR convertible, my XK Coupe.
The Bugatti replica, based on a VW bug frame and drivetrain, was interesting. Everyone was intrigued by the Superlite. I had not seen a Cosworth Vega in, probably, 10 years. Then, two cars in two weeks at Fair Lakes!

Few people lust after Vegas and nowadays they're as rare a sight as, well, Pintos. Wouldn't surprise me if a majority of the ones still on the road are Cosworths at this point! At any rate, while it's not my personal taste, I tip my hat to any man maintaining any relatively forgotten car.
A beautiful, slightly cool, morning. Lots of nice vehicles.
My friend Rassul did a very nice thing by encouraging a young guy to 'try on' his Exige, complete with the racing harness. We need to encourage the car hobby with the new generations.

This morning it was overcast, temps in the low- to mid-thirties. It kept some people away, but not all...
We still had a good crowd, and plenty of quality cars. (No Jaguars today, though.)

You can't complain much when it's dry and mid-40's, the last day of November. The day started slow, but we ended up with a real crowd, and some very nice cars.

Clear, sunny and over 40 - not at all bad for the middle of December!
The last picture is part of our 'do kids nowadays still like cars' series. This kid rode in his dad's Delorean, and was happy and excited, running to every car that caught his fancy.

Did Bob ever sort out the cooling issues on his Lister?
Doesn't anyone ever come out to Las Vegas?
You are missed here! How is Vegas?
I believe Mr. Williams has resolved the cooling problem.

The last C & C this year, and the good weather was a terrific surprise - 49F at 7:30AM! Not a surprise that we had a pretty good turnout.
No Jaguars there today, though.
