This was my second annual visit to the show at Sully Plantation, near Dulles Airport. A nice show that's held every Father's Day, sponsored by the Model A Ford Club. Lots to see, with the vast majority of cars being American, but a good collection of various (mostly antique) imports.

No wonder there were no cars at the Crystal City "Car Show"!

 

When I realized, a week or two ago, that the Crystal City event I saw advertised was for the same day as Sully, I thought 'hmmmmmm'. Sully has been held on Father's Day for 40 years. I've been involved enough with the tough job of trying to schedule events, and I know you just cannot avoid everything - but it pays to have some people keep an eye out for very big competing events. (Back in '95, I chaired a national Lotus cars event on the East Coast, two weeks after Lotus was the featured marque at Monterey... got used to hearing "no" from sponsors and attendees.)
