Does anybody know a mechanic near the 25443 area to work on my XJSV12?
Thanks, Daan

You might ask the folks at the White Post restoration operation near Winchester if they know anyone near you or if they work on the 12s. If you can stand coming to Rockville, Md., Master Auto is the place to go.

It dawned on me I overlooked one shop, though it may be a little more distant, Mike Gassman at Gassman Automotive in Waynesboro, Va., maintains a number of Jags for local members of the Shenandoah Valley British Car Club (I belong even though I’m in the DC area), and I’ve chatted with a couple of XJS V-12 owners at the show who have Gassman work on their cars. Sorry for not recalling this earlier.

Yet another one more thought: The National Capitol Jaguar Owners Club has its annual concours show in conjunction with the local Triumph gang at the huge Britain on the Green show Sunday, April 28, at Gunston Hall in southeastern Fairfax County. It draws 200-plus cars and a lot of vendors, including a number of shops such as London Auto (Falls Church) and a different restoration outfit that is based in Manassas, not the one at White Post that I mentioned earlier. Perhaps a jaunt down here to the show might connect you with additional resources. There’s a website for Britain On The Green that can offer more details.

Thanks for all the suggestions. After my neighbour found out about all the troubles I had with garages, he offered to take a look at my car and found lots of things that had been neglected with several garages I had take my car to. The valve gasket was blown, the fuel injectors needed replacing, the fuel lines were bad, etc, etc. The car now runs fabulously and I ended up finding someone nextdoor who enjoys working at my oldtimers. One can't beat that!

daanv, I have found you keep him well stocked with his favorite drink and/or smoke, he will think you are a god and be willing to do what you need. You scratch each others backs and it will be a long life friendship.

You'd better believe I do. I did not know him BF and he turns out to be a wonderful new friend.
