Default Shop to reprogram transmission/engine control modules

Do you guys know anywhere in the DC Metro area that can do reprogramming of engine/transmission control modules?

I am having a transmission issue, and my dealer refuses to do anything about it under warranty. If the work is not going to be covered under warranty, I'd rather have it performed at an indie shop.

Two shops I've seen are Overseas Imports in Falls Church, and Top Line Diagnostics in Springfield. Any idea what their capabilities are? Have you guys used any of those shops?

Thanks!

Alan, I know there was some discussion awhile back about changing out the gears in the rear end of the XK's and a lot of shops do not have the Jaguar program to modify to reflash into the computer. So, unless you want to be a gineau pig and are willing to take a chance, you might find a shop that can do what you are after. Otherwise, I think you are going to be hard pressed to find a shop that will do what you are after. All you can do is ask and see what they can do for you. What is the worst thing that they are going to say, NO?

Hmmm... I just spoke to a technician on the phone at Top Line in Springfield. The technician said he would get back to me, but the person I spoke to initially on the phone seemed confident that their shop could reflash the control modules.

It does seem like a pretty capable shop. I'll see what they come back with. At the very least, I can go over there and have a technician ride along with me so I can demonstrate the issue, which is something I really haven't been able to do with my dealer.

I just spoke with the guy from Top Line. He said they routinely do these transmission adaptation resets and that it will only take an hour to do. I hope he is right!
