anyone near st. louis know a locksmith that can cut/program replacement key and fob? let's just say mine was permanently misplaced by spouse.

 

I am in need of a replacement key and fob, and also live in the St Louis area!

 

+2 I would like to get an extra key for my '99 XK8. Has anyone got a recommendation in the St. Louis area?

 

I finally found a couple of guys in St. Louis that can cut and program keys. The problem is that they are very close in price to the dealer. If the key they make for you goes bad for any reson you have no recourse, at least with the dealer they are actually Jag parts with someone to back them if the key stops working for some reason.

Sorry, I could not locate a place where you could actually save money. Try calling Jag dealers in nearby cities and get their cost, could be very different. If good then it is a nice time for a drive.

 

FYI I bought a used fob (XKR) on eBay for $35, and for $6 from another eBayer, I got instructions on how to program it - quite EZ. From a dealer it would have been like $150 and $100 to program it. Lars in his shop on 95th near 88th, Frankfort, IL (I forget the name) cut a new key for $125.
