XJ40 mechanic in Minneapolis
I miss my 89 vanden plas and am considering buying another one. But if there’s one thing my last VP taught me it’s that they’re not meant for amateur mechanics.
Any recommendations for a good XJ40 mechanic in or near the Twin Cities?
Much obliged,
Ray

Hi Ray,
Welcome to the Jaguar Forums! It's great to have you with us.
I am going to move your post from the forum for the XJ40 to the Regional forum for the U.S. Midwest. Since any good Jaguar mechanic can work on an XJ40, your more important question as to do with the location of said mechanic. Perhaps some of our members in the Twin Cities area will be able to recommend a good shop.
By the way, many of us have learned that quite a lot of the maintenance and repairs that XJ40s require can be handled by do-it-yourselfers who are willing to do their homework. There is a tremendous knowledge base here at the Jaguar Forums.
Cheers,
Don

Awesome, thanks so much!
yeah, thing like solenoid replacement, I can do that. But I don’t want to mess around with subframe bushings or replacing transmissions again. The last one was a bit of a basket case to begin with. But I want someone knowledgeable in case there’s a weird engine code or a fault I can’t figure out in 5 minutes.
thanks again!
