Test drove and 08 XKR with performance tires. It was terrible, worse than my 05 Vanden plas. But with the correct snow tires, im sure you could go through a few inches of snow and feel fine.

I drove my '08 XKR a few days ago when we had a light dusting and it drove horribly. Well, it wasn't really driving but sliding everywhere. I think winter tires are a must.

No car of any type with big wide meaty tires is worth a d*mn on snow. The 'four seasons' tires indicate how many seasons they're nothing but a compromise in. Fit it with the very best Ice and Snow tires you can find.

Agreed. My XJR is an adventure on all season Michelin tires when it starts snowing. For me it makes more sense to have a winter beater and just park the Jag until April.

I have the opposite experience with my 2002 XKR. I have the continental DWS tires and it is great in the snow. The tires were almost completely bald in the back for half the winter and it still held the road quite well. Sometimes it takes longer to get going, but all in all not so bad. Your first rwd?

It does seem to come down to the tires. I just traded in my 2007 audi S6 for a 2010 XFR because even with the audi awd the s6 was worthless in light snow. I was initially looking for a good all season "super saloon" but the summer performance tires struggle to grip in rain little less snow.
I find swapping out tires to be a pain (esp when we have two light winters in a row) so i picked up a 2008 range rover for the winter and keeping the xfr for spring summer and fall. I imagine the xkr has a similar setup to my xfr so chancing it in bad weather will have you facing the wrong direction pretty quick.
