Default 2001 stype camshaft positioning sensor 3.0

I have a 2001 stype 3.0. forgot the code but advance auto told me that the camshaft positioning sensor was bad. i guess it has some sort of spring that can loosen or gum up and not work right. engine misses from time to time. They said this controls the timing of engine and can cause it to miss. They said that its a pain to replace but from what i am reading its not that bad. does anyone have an opinion

The North East forum is for all types of Jag owners who are located in the northeast USA, so not the best place to get your question answered.

It's best to post your question in the S-Type forum rather than here, as your question will be seen by more folks, located all around the world, who are driving cars similar to yours.

Go back to the main forum page here ...

Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum - Powered by vBulletin

...and select "S-Type / S type R Supercharged V8" under the "Jaguar Models ( Modern )" heading. Then start a new thread entitled "2001 stype camshaft positioning sensor 3.0" or something similar as you did here. Before doing that, it is always best to search the forum to see if the topic has already been covered. You may find the answer to your question has already been posted.
Good luck,
Steve
