Thanks to everyone sharing suggestions in this thread.
I live in Manhattan and everyone I know here either doesn't own a car or is still going to dealers for maintenance and repairs.
Are most of the good independent Jaguar specialists outside the metro NYC area? I know places like Westport and Hawthorne aren't that far off in the grand scheme of things, but it sounds like it's still a trek to get good work and I suspect the Jaguar dealerships aren't eager to work on some of the older model vehicles that I'm interested in.

Service Issue Dealer's Lack of Parts
Hello,
I am trying to understand the process for getting a warrantee repair done. My car has been at the local dealership in MD since Tuesday for a problem with my 2016 F Type getting a constant "acquiring signal" message when I try to use the satellite radio. We are now into day 4. I have been told consistently that the shop tech is "waiting for an answer from the "Tech Line". Seems to me like the tech line has to walk him through each step of trying to fix the problem. Now it seems to be narrowed down to 1 of 2 radio/Sirius modules. The "Tech Line" told them to take the part out of another car and try it on mine to see what the problem is.
Well, one problem is that they don't have a comparable car with a part that will work on mine. So, I said then they should just order the 2 parts and figure it out. Whichever one it is not, they need to keep in stock. The dealership refuses to do this until they get authorization from the "Tech Line". I called the 1-800 Jag Customer Service and the lady called the dealer but said there is nothing else she can do. I asked for some contact information so I could escalate the issue and she said there wasn't any. I'm not buying that.
Seems I'm stuck waiting for someone from some phone number to call back the dealership. They need to be more aggressive and proactive.
So, I did some searching and emailed the CEO of Jaguar and the President of Jag North America. I received a response saying that someone would reach out to me directly.
I see at least two major problems here. 1. The techs at this dealership should have enough knowledge where someone does not have to walk them trough a diagnosis. 2. The dealership is not keeping enough parts in stock and/or is unwilling to do what is needed when a customer has waited days.
Am I being unrealistic? This is my first Jag. I love the car but hate the service. Unfortunately, due to the are I live in, I have limited options for service. It's not like a Benz, BMW, or Lexus where there are a lot of competing dealers. Looking for suggestions.
Thanks.

The Tech could be a great Jag tech however he may not be a good electronic technician.
The approach the tech line is taking is the best thing to do.
The dealer ship does not want to be stuck with a piece of electronic equipment that will probably never sell.
Work with Jaguar USA, they have the means to do something.
Jaguars are great vehicles but low production ones at that. If you think service is difficult due to this, try getting service on a half million dollar Lamborghini or Ferrari.

NE Tech
I have a friend that is a tech at Great Britains that will do work on the side, and get you the parts pretty much at dealer cost as well. LMK off forum if you want more info. He lives in Horsham. I wont mention any names cause I don't want to compromise anyone's job.

Motorcars in CT, read enough horror stories, Brill promotes them because they are a sponsor of his JCNA club. I met the owner, he owns an E-Type with the plate Enzo Sez at a Concours (Cassano last name...), the most arrogant, rude and pretentious individual I have ever met. Had a tech chat and he further showed his ignorance. If you want a DEALER, so far, the best has been Jaguar of Darien (CT). They work on some of my Jags and RR and always fixed right the first time (unlike Jaguar of Fairfield, formerly Land Rover of Milford).

Independent Jag Mechanic Worcester, MA
My Jag mechanic in Dallas was the best- knowledgeable, irrascible and always willing to obtain a good used part when one would do, to keep costs down.
I recently moved to Worcester, MA and it seems like a Jag tech desert, unless I can get a Forum member to apprise me of where the good mechanics are hiding.
So far I've been disappointed with the knowledge level and attitudes of the mechanics I've spoken to here.
..but is that just a Yankee thing?
Thanks,
Larry

I'm new to Jaguar, I had a stuck seat as posted in the X150 forum. I went to British Auto Works in the Bronx, and they did a quick re-calibration and the seat is fully functional again. They didn't even charge me, which is quite amazing. Seems dealers are doing that for ~125. Also, before I went in and spoke to them on the phone, they immediately knew the problem just very with-it guys. I'll definitely use them next time if need be, hopefully this wasn't a one-off!

Thumbs up for Dana at Upton Foreign Motors
After weeks of problems with my XK8 and being told I needed megabuck head gasket and engine work, Dana found a more simple problem and fixed it at a very reasonable cost. He let me keep my cat - I wouldn’t have paid for an engine overhaul which would have far exceeded the value of the car, sentimentality notwithstanding. Highly recommended for people in Central Mass. -
