Default Tie Rod End Thread Size

Can you believe, there is not a Jag retailer in the northeast region who can
tell me the tie rod thread size for my 85 XJ6? Sure, I could have my mechanic take it off the vehicle and measure it but, it's in centimeters. show me a mechanic (Not a shop) who have metric tools then to want to tackle a Jag. For some reason they are afraid of Jags. Could it be because of my wife and her S&W if they screw up? LOL They are either 11mm or 16mm,
choose one he he he

Have you posted your question in the XJ forum? You're likely to have a wider audience than this forum.

With some Googling and parts book checking I think I've nailed it down.

VIN 345391 and later use the smaller tie rod, part number JLM9660, apprx 12.7mm thread/shaft diameter

VIN 345390 and earlier use the larger tie rod, JLM9726, apprx 16mm diameter

Apparently there is backwards/forwards compatibility on the racks....providing you use corresponding tie rod ends

Cheers
DD
