Default 84 xj6 Jag fuel tank switch over problems

Im having problems finding the the switchover solenoid in the trunk and the right and left solenoid under in the back of the wheel wells. So in order to run the car I put a 3 way "T" valve in the trunk and bypassed all the solenoids. So far the car is working fine however I get a little gas smell in the cabin. Does anyone know about doing this?

Lots of possible sources of the fuel odor. Umpteen hoses and joints in the boot itself, leaky tanks, gas cap seals, the vapor condensers hidden in the C-pillars, all the engine bay fuel plumbing. Start with the easy0to-reach possibilities and go from there. Bear in mind that it doesn't have to be a drippy wet leak to create a BIG smell. Even a small ooooze will do it.

One often overlooked source is the tiny section of hose on the fuel return line right at the front of the cylinder head...usually invisible under caked-on grease and dirt.

As for the "T" bypass, well, that's pretty common. In and of itself it isn't a problem.

Cheers
