Default April 21st Jag group meet and drive

So Swinref has asked for an April 21st group gathering and drive.
I agree, so at this point we have two going to who knows where! Get it marked on your calendars before something like 'clean the gutters' gets there first!

Destinations:
Per the prior thread. Hurricane Ridge in the Olympic National Park will be open and free. If it was guaranteed to be a blue sky day, the place would be stunning still covered in winter snow... Alas... That's a heck of a dice toss, but might be worth holding in reservation.

Lower elevations still win, rain or shine.
Whidbey Island Loop?
Peace Park?
Drive to Satsop via back roads.
Lunch in LaConner? (mostly freeway I think, but you folks on that side of the water know for sure)
Run to Ocean Shores or Westport?

Anyhow... Ideas welcome! Lets do this!

1.) Swimref
2.) Clevername
3.)?
4.)?
5.)?
6.)?
7.)?

Just added a poll... First time I had tried one.... Looks like it might remain at the top of the thread?
Anyhow, lets see if it helps, or again, offer up your own idea!

Peace!
Vince

La Conner would not have to be a freeway drive. If we were to meet up at the Smokey Point Rest Area where we have begun many of our drives we could immediately go west to the coastline and head north on good roads from there up to La Conner for lunch, then across the bridge and through the Swinomish Indian Reservation before heading east through the tulip fields on the way back. The caveat is that although a few weeks late to see the tulips in their full glory traffic might still be a nightmare on the back roads of this area. We could return home through the Tulalip Indian Reservation and end at Marysville.

Though I had posted this, but must have spaced out... Hurricane ridge is open, as it is a ski area in winter. I read that ski season ends for them the end of March. So by the end of April it might be pretty nice up there, assuming they continue to clear the roads. Stunning beauty during blue skies, but the downside is if it is overcast. Absolutely not worth driving up into clouds with no visibility to the mountains.

And mark your calendars!

Are you kidding me?

2 weeks on the forum....
339+ views....
What, maybe just shy of 100 PNW members?....

And only THREE votes?

Yeash! Come on folks! Tell us what we are doing wrong here so we can fix it!

OK, let's try to move this along. 5 people have voted, none very recently. It looks like either Hurricane Ridge or a Whidbey/LaConner (they are pretty much the same) drive. Perhaps we could say plan for both then call it based on weather a few days before the drive. Of course either drive would be better in bluebird weather but Vince says Hurricane Ridge only if sunny so I guess the Whidbey/LaConner drive would be the backup plan. Does this sound good to everyone not going to Maui?

I just asked Muddydog to fire out messages to all our members, so I'll keep my fingers crossed!
Kinda bummed about our last meet with all the fussing over the date. It it was a great meetup, but shortly after that I got an interview request up in Bellingham for the 21st. Needless to say, I had too cancel my trip south, and was here last(17th) and next(24th) Saturdays after all. Yeash!
Today was Dads 86th, so I know he wasn't happy 'bout canceling, but he understood.

When April hits, I want a date and poll for May started too... So everyone think ahead!

I'm not yet sure if I'll be able to make it on the 21st. My daughter might have a school thing going on that day, but it might be getting moved to the 28th, so I might be ok.

If you guys end up going to Hurricane Ridge, I'll do my best to be there. If it's on the other side of the Sound, I might have to skip this one.

So Clev, are you up for the 21 or are you in Bellingham? I didn't follow your thread.

OK, Karen and I went for a little Easter drive today. We wanted to go over good routes for a LaConner/Deception Pass drive for April 21st or 22nd. We found our favorite restaurant in LaConner, the LaConner Seafood and Prime Rib House. We've not tried for dinner, but it is really great for lunch. We found some great "Vince-style" backroads so we can avoid the freeway and a few very cool sights to see and photograph. I am really looking forward to our April drive and hope we can have at least a pretty good turnout.

hey all, sorry I can't make this one. I'll will actually be up in the area but doing some volunteer work for WTA that day I suspect it'll still be wet anyways and as I found out yesterday; summer tires + RWD + wet roads = nearly pooped myself.

Count me in for the next one! I fly in from a week away on the 22nd. Also, my limp light just went on today, so my cat is going to be sitting on jack stands for a bit!

Hooray(?)

Default Poll Closed! LaConner on the 21st it is!

OK, so here we have it.... A drive to LaConner on the 21st.
Next we need a starting point, and I recommend the Jaguar dealership in Lynnwood. That makes LaConner about 2hrs out if you trust Google Maps.

Swimref has a route in mind, so timing may vary. (Is my timing close?)

So, to arrive about noon-ish for lunch, departure from Lynnwood would have to be about 10AM.

Lets get our attendees listed, and any additional comments as well!

1.) Clevername
2.) Swimref
3.) ?
3,) ?
5.) ?
6.) ?
7.) ?

Hey Vince,

If it really does end up just being the two of us, are you still in? Lots of folks voted for La Conner and Whidbey Island but then didn't sign up for the drive. I hope a few will still decide to join us. (if not and it's just us we could change to Hurricane Ridge if you prefer.) If La Conner/Deception Pass/Tulip Fields is still on, could we meet at the Smokey Point Rest Area where we have started many other runs? Maybe with a 9 or 9:30 start?

Oh I'm in too.

Vince has asked me to sent a PM to everybody, which I will do when I decide to get up out of this chair and make my way to the big computer.
