July 9-12 Columbia river drive
OK, so as I promised Muddydog, I'm posting this up as far in advance as possible for anyone wanting to make a group trip to see the Historic Columbia River Highway, and fun roads thereabouts.
As you can note, this will be a 4 day/3 night event for myself and can be the same or less for any others interested.
More detailed info will follow, but here is my basic itinerary;
Saturday July 9th, meet in Enumclaw, and drive 6.5 hours of scenic twisty back-roads (Eastern side of both Rainier and St Helens, to arrive at the Columbia at Carson.) From there West to Troutedale for the night.
The next two days are dedicated to visiting the waterfalls and various roads of interest as far east as The Dalls.
Tuesdays return can be as fast as I-5, as slow as the twisty route we took south, or the pleasant 97 to Yakima and across Whitepass for a more speedy yet visually stunning return.
Anyone interested can join in for any single part of the drive and head for home at your leisure if 4 days is not to your liking (Hint to all you Portland and south folks).
Hotels are filling fast, and rates are climbing due to summer vacations. Most in Hood river are full, however Troutdale still offers a good selection at reasonable prices. I recommend finding a hotel that allows last day cancellations, and booking the 3 nights while you ponder participating.
I'm going, willing to lead, and would enjoy sharing the road with other Jags!

I just checked, there's still rooms in Troutdale. what hotel are you staying at and where are you staying Sunday night? I will have to return Monday to be at work Tuesday.
Is Marko going?
*edit: PM me if you don't want to post your hotel plans on the internet!
