Default Leavenworth Drive

Are there any plans to do the Leavenworth drive from Monroe in September or early October? It’s always a great time.

Yep... I'll gladly host it.

I posted the date once, but have forgotten... (I believe it was the last Sunday in September, as the first weekend of October brings out a HUGE crowd for Oktober Fest)
Unlike past events, it will be a Sunday to avoid the Autumn Leaf Festival parade completely. Not sure if it will limit attendance, but after several Saturday attempts, the walk gets longer and longer from available parking spaces.

Thanks Vince! Last Sunday in September is the 30th. The confusion of the parade was compounded by the strong turnouts we've had the past two years. While this summer has been a bit more tepid, it is still time to experiment with a Sunday drive. With enough advance notice hopefully people can make arrangements.

Thanks XJDanny for posting up the question. By the way, this will be our SEVENTH Annual Leavenworth Drive!!!

Sigh. I am tied up on Sept. 30th, but naturally have October 7th free. Just my luck, again. Any chance for an August drive somewhere?

I’m not so sure about a Sunday drive to Leavenworth. Since I live so close to Monroe where we start, I always return the way we came. Coming back on 2 on a Sunday can be bumper to bumper from Index to Monroe. It’s miserable. Saturdays don’t have that issue.

Well, cr@p...
I mention Sunday, and two of our regular group immediately indicate it isn't doable for them.
This is kinda why I hate presenting drives, because no matter the date, I end up leaving good people behind.

Anywho...Lets get this party started! I'll give members a week (ends Sep 7th) to pick Saturday or Sunday..... Majority wins.

Saturday has always been our traditional event, so if that is preferred, so be it... However, as I said before, we have for the past several years conflicted with the Autumn Leaf Festival, making access and parking very difficult. Also, those that have difficulty walking distances have suffered due to the poor parking options. I had hoped to alleviate that by moving things to Sunday. (Hey...seemed an easy fix on the surface as I have both days open, but then, I guess I expected it to be a questionable choice best vetted by everyone here.)

So, post your name, and which dates you can attend. Saturday, Sept 29th or Sunday Sept. 30th, and let's get this annual event rocking!

1.) Clevername 29th or 30th
2.) Swimref 29th? (pending confirmation)
3.) XJDanny 29th? (pending confirmation)

Unfortunately the 29th is even worse for me than the 30th. This is a very busy time of the year for me. The only weekend days I have free near this date are Saturday 9/22 and Sunday 10/7. I'm very sorry to have to miss the group drive yet again but Karen and I may do our own 1 car drive to lunch at Andreas Keller on one of those free days. Have fun, everyone!

Sorry to miss Swim this year. I can do either day, I think. If 29th is the consensus then we will make it work. Even with the extra worry of the festival it's always worked out, one time with 14 vehicles!!! So it will be OK either way. It was a noble effort, Clev.

Who was the guy who made nylon decals? Was that Bob B? I need to send the decal off to the printer ASAP. Bob! If that's you, send me a PM!

Well, do you want to call the date for the 29th and I'll send out a PM to the group? I don't think anyone else is going to chime in. I sent off the decal to the printer.

I was hoping you'd sent so they could help pick, but lets just call it Saturday.

For newcomers:
We care not what condition your kitten is in, daily driver, restoration project, or pristine show car...the marquee itself is our statement.... We love our cars and enjoy keeping the linage of these beauties alive, both past and present.

But the annual Cascadia Cats to Leavenworth is much much more. It's the people you meet, comradery shared, and friendships made that let this event stand out.

This is a family event...
The typical drive begins in Monroe WA around 9:00am. A stop or two (photo ops?) before reaching Leavenworth lets us get out and mingle.
Once in Leavenworth, Andrea Keller’s has been our primary lunch gathering although the parade last year made the wait long enough that we sought out someplace different. (Your free to explore on your own if you desire). Remaining spare time allows for visiting a shop or two before heading back west via Hwy 97 and I-90.
We take a brief stop in Cle Elum, for ice cream and restroom break.
As we summit in late afternoon, many choose to depart for home, or if enough interest remains, we end with a dinner parting.

FRS radios are used for car to car communications, so if you need a set, they are inexpensive and available at most any generic retail chains.
Anyone is welcome to join or depart the group at any time, but letting us know what to anticipate would be appreciated.

Join us on the 29th by getting you name on the list... It's always a great time!

I pushed this event out to the Jaguar club. Hopefully, we’ll get some of them to join again this year!

Thanks XJD,

We really struggled this year with weather, fire and my inability to focus on any kind of drive. It was never an intent to alienate or disappoint anyone, but we certainly didn't do a lot to increase our ranks, which is a bad thing.

Anyhow, lets see this list start to grow! 'Cause our annual event is finally here!
WooHoo!

Thanks for sending the notice to the Jaguar Club. I would enjoy joining the drive to Leavenworth.

Where in Monroe are we meeting up?

Great to have you, Steve!!

We meet in in the parking lot of the Safeway in Monroe and head out a little after 9:00. We back the cars In next to each other for the first photo op. After a little chatting and going over how it all works, we hit the road.

See you there!

Danny

Awesome, now we've got a party! Thanks to XJDanny for spreading the word! I'll print up an itinerary and map and drop a copy here for everyone. I also want to point out that if anyone interested in picking up some of the planning, or if you have ideas that could be fun, post them up!
