Default November meet and greets

Well, November is gonna be a tough one.... Only the first few weekends evade the holidays, and weather is typically wet....
Weekends: 2nd and 3rd
9th/10th
16th/17th

Maybe ideas that can get folks together for things other than drives? Thoughts?

Some rough ideas are meeting at LeMays in Tacoma, or the Museum of Flight? Indoor ideas mostly.... Anyone done the fast indoor carts near Southcenter mall?? They are a hoot!

Input please!
Vince

Sorry, moving. Can I use that excuse twice in the same year?

The 16th/17th works for me, but I don't want to go to a building, I want to DRIVE! The Whidbey Island Loop is so scenic, and the road is nearly empty even on weekends this time of year. I just love drives in the exciting weather, so much more adventurous than boring sunshine. Last Sunday I drove the big cat to Oak Harbor and back across Deception Pass both ways, it was so beautiful. Next time I want the full loop including the Mukilteo ferry. This is a sea level drive with virtually zero chance of snow or ice. Anyone care to join me?

I'll offer up a tentative "yes", but it is a weekend I have my son, so things can interfere...
I would also meet you at Fort Casey, taking the Pt Twonsend boat across...

Still nothing wrong with a coastal run as well, cause it is all lowland too... Just no fun with sideways rain....

Okay, how about something like this:

Drive Saturday, Nov. 16th. Meet at Jaguar of Seattle in Lynnwood (at foot of off-ramp at 196th & I-5 NB) at ~ 8:30 for 9AM start (this much easier to reach than Monroe). Drive north to Burlington and Hwy 20 (we can take I-5 or slower back roads), then west across Swinomish Slough to Fidalgo Island and Deception Pass. Stop at Rosario Beach in Deception Pass State Park, and at the bridge. Proceed south down Whidbey Island. Lunch in Coupeville, stop at Sunnyside Cemetery with pioneer blockhouse and Ebey Landing. Stop at Ft. Casey, bid farewell to Vince if he needs to take the ferry to Pt. Townsend. Check out Langley, continue south to Clinton, take ferry to Mukilteo, maybe eat dinner at Ivar's (Taylor's) Landing on the water.. From Mukilteo we can return home independently via various freeways/highways. Please reply with your thoughts.

I always found this a fun stretch.... Mostly because it gave you room to open it up a tad.

Keep in mind both Deception Pass and Ft Casey require State Park passes

The back road up the coast (Marine Drive, later Pioneer Hwy) is a great alternative from Marysville through Stanwood to SW Skagit County. We could even duck into LaConner for coffee or whatever, but beware the Swinomish tribal police if you take the Reservation Road shortcut from LaConner to the Northwest. The Tulalip Res. near Marysville does not seem to have the same problem. I myself think I-5 is OK from Marysville up to Burlington, there is a great rest area north of Smokey Point and for a few miles north of that you can really open it up. We will want to bring radios and I hope Vince will take the lead so we don't dawdle.

Yes, Ft. Casey requires state park payment, but I don't think that is enforced right at the Deception Pass bridge, and at Rosario Beach you have to pay to park right inside the gate while it is free right outside the gate, then walk in free.

The state park pass is $30 for the year or $10 for the day, good at any state park. The ferry fare from Clinton to Mukilteo is $8.10 (passengers free in this direction).

I'm still tentative.... Gotta late Friday planned, but no booze, so should be good... Provided my kid lets me go.

Marine Drive was a nice little road.... Populated, regulated, and casual, but I recall liking it.
La Conner: Reservations make me nervous (Pretty sure my list of traffic attorneys would all wish me good luck and walk away from fighting a tribal speeding ticket if I got one)!

I think my Annual Park Pass is still good, but I always renew it and Nationals every year regardless of how much it gets used (IE Support your Parks System!), so I'll be covered one way or another.

I'll most likely catch the 7:55 Kingston boat, and show up close to the 9am deadline.

Do you allow non-Jags? I'm without one for now.

No, at this point I'm super happy with the look. Looks very sleek. I kinda enjoy the elegant mixed with the classic Porsche shape. But I'm still very new to it. It's really the handling that sold me. It feels like when you first drive a car, and am amazed with how it reacts to your commands.

Wow Marko, you sure change cars fast! You are welcome with us any time even if you bring a Yugo. Sorry to hear you abandoned Jag-yu-ar for a souped up "people's car." Looking forward to seeing it.
