I was told I needed 2 new key fobs and programming. Cost: $1248. Seems exorbitant. Am I wrong?

 

Good evening Miss Lynn, I had/still have the same problem and the answer to your question in my experience is 'depends on who you ask'.
We had a new key cut for an XK8, Jaguar dealer supplied, would not pair the key with the car as the car was over 10 yrs old, recommended
another shop. Getting the key fob paired with the car I had another 'specialist' quoting me $250 but they went cold on me, I still have the key
that is not paired and no fob. We had better take good care of the original (which we thought was lost but turned up after a few days).
I think it pays to call around, maybe check with neighbourhood apps.
