Any shop recommendations in the Austin area?
Don’t know how much good this would do for you, but I have a recommendation here in the Cypress area. Champions Service Jaguar. Off of 11926 Cutten Road, Houston Texas 77066. Phone number is 281-586-7700. Fellow I talk to is named Mike. He’s serviced both of my fathers XJ Super V8’s, the XJ8 I had “was totaled in a rear end collision”, and will be servicing my S Type R. Prices are very reasonable and he does a good job. Also one of the few trustworthy mechanics I know of which seems to be harder to come by nowadays. Would more than likely be at least a 2 1/2 hour drive from you according to google but thought I’d give the recommendation.
Thanks very much for the reply, but yeah, I'm SW Austin so almost 3 hours to Champions. At that distance I would probably go North to JagMac in Dallas who did my PPI. I found 2 here in Austin and used Luxury Automotive for my leak repairs. They were not cheap, but were very knowledgeable and nice to work with and provided a free loaner which was kinda huge for me. I have another I might try next time that is a little closer to me, Eurofed. I appreciate the recommendation though.
Cheers

A little late for your leak issue... but for future viewers of the thread... In Austin, I have used Sewell Jaguar on the north side, Jaguar of Austin downtown and Luxury Auto Works in Pflugerville. They have all done good work... but by my tracking, Sewell has around a $290/ hr labor rate, Jag of Austin around $230 and Luxury Auto Works around $180 (as of Dec 2023). Depending on the job, that can really add up...
I've found Jaguar West Houston (Katy) to have the best parts prices nearby (they ship fairly quickly) if you have a good ASE certified independent mechanic and you just need to get your hands on OEM parts.
I've also noticed Jaguar Palm Beach has the cheapest OEM parts I can find online. Haven't used them yet... but it's good to have their comprehensive list handy when proactively trying to guess how much a repair might be.

Thanks Andrellio,
Yes, I used Luxury Auto Works for my leak repair and it has been perfect since. I did use Sewell for my TPMS module replacement and that was a great experience despite the cost. I've never gotten a great feeling when speaking to Jag of Austin though so have not tried them. I'll take a look at Jag Palm Beach and West Houston, next time I need parts.
Cheers,

I don't recommend LJR Austin (downtown) at all. I think they're used to working with soccer moms who just throw money at their car problems. They seem to just throw parts at the problem before even diagnosing the issue, and they have been very sloppy three times with a parking brake issue, trunk latch problem, and misdiagnosing a low-voltage battery issue. The only time I would take it to them is if you know exactly what the problem is yourself, but if you're that mechanically inclined, you might as well do it yourself.
They quoted me $1000 to change the rear relay box BEFORE diagnosing what was wrong with the trunk soft close mechanism, something that is 90$ on eBay and takes about 30 minutes to do on your own, I just did it myself when I took the car back. After the car was there for 2 weeks they didn't diagnose any of the 4 things I brought it in for, all of which were pretty soft-ball issues: soft-close mechanism, electrochromatic mirrors not working, brake light on (pads and sensors were fine, I do my own), AC intermittently cooling.
Again, they just throw parts at the problem at your expense, they need to work on their diagnostic abilities. It's kind of a shame.
