Default Aamco experience

Anyone have experience with Aamco in south orange county CA? I just purchased a 2000 xk8 conv 2 months ago and it has transmission problems. Mechanic is quoting me almost half what I paid for the car ($7500). If anyone has experience with any of the Aamco centers in orange county ca would love to hear about it...

Default AAMCO experience

15 years ago I bought a Chevrolet Citation V6 for my daughter to drive to college. It was a well designed car, but ended up being a maintenence nightmare.

It began to make some pretty bad noises that sounded to me like bearings. You know, that wu-wu-wu-wu noise that gets more frequent and louder as you accelerate. So I took it to AAMCO in Fullerton where I was informed that I "needed a new transmission".

I figured that I had better get a couple more opinions (and prices) so I took it to other shops. At a tire shop that did general repairs one guy said "Oh, I know what that is...you need the top bolts tightened on the rear struts". 20 minutes later the problem was solved! And at the price of 1/2 hour of labor!

Needless to say I will not be going into AAMCO soon. And you can bet your sweet patootie that they will never even SEE my Jag.
