Hi everyone, my name is Marcus. I've a music producer/philosopher/geographer/student/.../.../... all around seeker of information and good times.

I'm soon to be purchasing a 2000ish S type or XKR and have been lurking around the forums to better advise myself on what to look for when searching for my new baby.

I have a strong feeling when buying a Jag, I should really have the car inspected before I throw any money at it. That is where in lies the problem, it seems to be ridiculously hard to get any decent leads for Jag mechanics on google.

I was hoping someone might point me in the right direction as far as pre purchase inspections.

I really hope to make the XKR my baby. In my book it already is a classic and I'd like to get my hands on one to treasure, love and enjoy this California coast in one of the best looking cars ever made.

 

Welcome, but it might be easier to recommend a Jaguar specialist or indy mechanic if we knew where you are! The California coastline covers a lot of territory.

Have you purchased yet? You would probably have to drive the vehicle to an indie shop if you want a jag specific inspection. There is a very good Jag shop in South Bay around hawthorne and PCH called Al's Jaguar. Main man there is Kent. Very straight and honest in my experience. (absolutely no affiliation)
