Front steer vs rear steer

Front steer vs rear steer
While working on my Lincoln LS I was surprised to see it was a rear steer car (tierods mount behind the hub/axel of the spindle). Usually this is on older pre 80's vehicles. Here what I know/have been told on front steer vs rear steer and hope others will broaden upon: I've been told front steer cars have better geometry and handle better, enlighten that. I know that rear steer is better for weight transfer cause the steering box or rack is closer to the middle of the car. Rear steer is also better for bumpsteer (when front of car goes down tierods pull in) cause it causes toe out opposed to toe in which causes understeer. Anyone have more to add to this?
