Default Suspension Upgrades

Interested in wringing some more performance out of the Jag suspension? Or perhaps just upgrading your deteriorating bushings to bring it back to stock levels? Either way, here is some good info.

The 4.0 model jags (think late 90's early millennium) suffer from deterioration in the upper shock mount causing "clunking" and poor alignment.
See this link for pics https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...light=bushings

Here is a link to a replacement aftermarket (read cheaper) replacement.

As for the rest of the suspension, nothing will tighten up your old jags suspension like some new poly bushings. It's like botox for your suspension

Hey Squirrel, don't know if you noticed but Jim launched a dedicated Suspension Section, might be good to post there.

Big fan of Poly Bushing especially on my previous off Roaders.

And the early XJ' cars also suffer from clonking mounts.

Cheers,

Yep, I completely missed that.

Oh well it's good to add to the performance section too

2004 -2009 XJR or XJ8 AIR SUSPENSION REPAIR,,, Note XJR uses the sport Suspension...Air Suspension Part... $1500/wheel from the dealer... see this site below ... for $399/wheel and they come with a LIFETIME warranty. Just order some and will try to update this after they have been installed... PS... cost to install is $329 here in Humble, TX.... Makes what would be a costly repair a LOT less painful..

Hi
I understand there are several grades of poly bushes, i.e. some are softer than others.
Does anybody know more about this, does the color of the material mean anything ?
Regards
Francis

That's a good question, however I'm not sure anyone here has the answer. You might be better off calling the manufacturer or at least a retailer. You could always post it up here for the betterment of the community as well. -Shaun

OK from my LR days .. Red = Stiff/Hard, Orange = Softer, Blue = Softest.

But for more info : http://www.polybush.co.uk/polybush-grades

And for Jaguar : http://www.polybush.co.uk/shop/299_Jaguar

But the links in Squirrel's (Shaun) OP at the top are also good.

And you may want to check out the forum Vendor Nalley Jaguar.

Excellent, thanks, that makes it clear.
Unfortunately only the Comfort option is available for the older Jags.

A lot of times if you contact the manufacturer they can make custom sets. I mean its not like they don't already know the measurements of the bushings...
