Just a heads up about a new ArmorAll product. I got a can of this stuff from WallMart for $3 or less and so far it works pretty good at keeping brake dust and road grime at bay. I'm only into my 3rd day on the product so lets see.
It feels like there is enough in each can for 2 applications. If a car washing takes it all off then you are looking at an additional $1.50 each time you spruce up the car. Not so bad. It does add a pleasant sheen to the wheels as well.

 

I agree.....brake dust was making my factory rims look nasty after just a couple of days. Now, when the car is dirty and needs a wash, the rims still look clean. Makes cleaning the up easier, too.

This is the stuff.....

 

Re: Brake dust. I just put a set of Hawke Ceramic front pads on my car. They throw off way less dust than the OEM's plus, the dust is light gray and doesn't show up as much. I'm very happy with the way they stop and the dust is a HUGE improvement.

 

8 days into the use of this product. How refreshing to find a product that lives up to its ads.
I haven't had the car in the wet yet. That when wheels to to hell. I'll let you know.

 

I must say. I'll have to go purchase some of the stuff. I have put Akebono ceramic pads on the front of my car, but the rims still get dirty in a week. It would be great if this stuff could give my rims a nice easy shine like my spare tire has.

Buy the way. I just walked by the shelf at Wall Mart where this stuff is kept and the price is nearly $7. Apparently they had it misspriced when I bought it for $3.
My test is not complete but this raises the bar quite a bit. Now to find out how long the stuff actully lasts.

 

I had purchased a can @ Autozone about a week ago for $8, when I read your post about Walmarts price I went today only to find it was about $7. That did not stop me from buying 8 cans for our 2 Jags. I like this product much better than Eagle 1 as it leaves quite a white stain.

 

While out this a.m. it rained. Usually when this happens I get ugly grey/black spots and streaks on the wheels. Not this time. The wheels are 80% as bright and clear as when I started out with no spotting/streaking.
The car gets washed tomorrow a.m. Hope to find out how this coating stands up to car washing. I'm thinking about another trip to WallMart to get the rest of their stock before the general public discovers it.

 

I couldn't find any at my Walmart. I'll have to keep checking.

 

You guys sold me. I am off to buy a can for my cat. It only takes a couple days for dust to start building up on my front wheels.

Okay. Here is my last report on this product. I put it on some 3 weeks ago. It did a great job thru wet and dry for 2+ weeks. Got car washed and have run it now for 1 week thru wet and dry. Product still effective but somewhat degraded.
Therefore, will continue use of product and apply after every 2nd car wash. Product cost approx $7 per can. Estimate there are 2 applications per can (maybe 3 if you are carefull and your wheels aren't too complex). Application last thru 2 clean ups so 2 X 4 divided into $7 gives you a cost of less than 87 cents per clean up. That's a pretty low cost to beat down a big pain in the butt like brake dust.

 

Its not that good then ? you`d get similar durability from many sealants

 

Actually I'm pretty high on the stuff. Short of becoming a shill for ArmorAll I could not be any more positive but I have never used any similar product either.
What other spray on products do you recommend?

Optimum Opti Seal,Ultima Paint Guard Plus, Dodo red mist, OCW, Chemical Guys Blitz, Wolfgang, Blackfire and even Zaino Z8 among many others if a spray on sealant is your requirement.
My personal favourite at present is Gtechniq C2

Are we talking apples and oranges here. These products you mentioned sound like commercial grade refinish products, not the kind of products available to the average bloke and found in auto stores to keep brake dust off between applications/washes.

The ArmorAll stuff is not designed to refinish or permanately recoat the wheel. I gave it a try and suggested it to others as a brake dust remedy short of installing cerimic pads or refinishing the wheels. If there are other products that do this lets give em a try. What do you think?
