Default Wheels out of round

I just put new tires on my XF Supercharged. The tire guys brought me in to show me that two of the rims are bent.

This is not like a dent, so it's not obvious at all just looking at the rims. But if you watch the wheel turn on the balancer, you can see that the inner side is just a bit out of round, so if you watch the edge of the rim you can see just a bit of a wobble as it goes around.

They say I will probably feel the wobble as a vibration, but I absolutely don't.

So my questions are, is this a common problem with 20" rims? How much tolerance is allowable for a wobble like that, if any? How urgent is it that I fix the problem? Is this the sort of repair a wheel repair place can make?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

It's quite common. Seemingly more common for my better half.

I have superhero abilities to spot and avoid potholes and road imperfections, but even I have bent two 20" wheels over the last 6 years.

I have to say, if normal driving on normal roads can destroy these rims - potholes or no - it seems like kind of a design flaw to me.

After a little research it seems like repair is clearly an option. Does anyone have any experience with this service?

or recommendations for other options in the Austin, Texas area?

These guys are too far away for me, but they do have a nice video of the wheel straightening process.

Had the same type of issue with 1 of my wheels. Found a place in Dallas to fix for $100 and about 6 hrs. Don't remember the name right now, but I found at least 3 or 4 in Dallas and some had shops in Houston as well.

I would go to your local Discount Tire or high end auto accessories shop and ask who they use. Even dealers will use these services if you have a good rapport with your Jaguar or other dealer. $50-100 per wheel is about the going rate for pure straightening - add $50 or so for refinishing work if they are curbed.

Same crap, different model. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...n-fixed-64734/ I can feel a vibration but it is much reduced now the old Dunlops are gone.

I have an email in with the local AWRS guy. I'll let you know what he says.

Thanks for the info everybody. It was the Discount Tire guy that pointed out the problem, and he was too interested in selling me a replacement to be any help finding a repair service.

Sorry about your trouble but glad to have some company in my misery. I'm giving AWRS a shot, also.

AWRS came to pick up my wheels, took them to a local dealer where they do the straightening, then rebalance, and brought them back same day. $140 per wheel. Beats replacing wheels by a mile.
