NeWb, you should be able to pick that part up at a local auto parts place. The part is simply a T-connector. When you see it, it will more than likely have some barbs on the end to help hold the hose in place. Should be able to be picked up for $4 or so.

On my car it has a special fitting at the bottom to go on the thermostat mounting so I sort of doubt it is a generic part. Mine too developed a hairline crack and I got a piece of old giant radiator hose and clamped it around the bad part of the original pipe. I also use a soldering gun to sort of fuse the plastic crack which on mine is on the top and accessible. I do have a little bit of seepage over time but if this kluged repair can hold up in arizona desert heat all summer, I think you can try it with success in NYC.

NeWb, go to the auto parts store and look in their generic parts area. You should be able to find a T connector like what you are looking for that will handle the coolant. If it is the part I am thinking of, it will be like a 1/2 x 1/2 x 1/2" connector. worst case, you will have to pick up a few feet of new coolant hose and that way you can get the whole thing for fairly cheap.

It's called the upper radiator hose, you're right it comes as a unit with the thermostat/housing and a couple of hoses. I bought one at gaudinjaguarparts dot com for $99.33 plus $13 shipping. But I'm having second thoughts about doing it myself: it looks tight.

Sorry about the above post, I was having a weak moment, LoL

I've had the replacement upper hose for a week and I keep removing parts off the engine hoping I can replace the upper hose assy from above. I hate jacking up this car, put the jack or the stand in the wrong spot and bam you've $1500 damage.

I bit the bullet today, put the car on jack stands and then removed the undershield. It was tight getting to the two nuts (one from above & the other from below) holding on the thermostat housing, but not impossible. Luckily I had a socket wrench that has a pivoting joint just below the head to use on the upper nut. Once I got the nuts off I thought I was home free, not! I had to carefully pry the housing off the threaded posts and there was hardly any room for it to come off. I kept thinking it’s going to be impossible to get the new one back on there, but surprisingly it went on pretty easily. I quit after putting everything back together, will finish it up and test drive tomorrow.

Finally finished this project, no leaks or drips. I decided to use Jaguar coolant and that was $15 a liter (3) from the dealer, ouch.

Apparently, when I removed the air box and started the engine in order to find out where the leak was coming from I triggered the check engine light. After several short trips the CEL has gone out.

I couldn’t have done this without searching the helpful posts on this forum, JTIS was of minimal help.

Newb, did you find the necessary part and get it fixed? I have the same problem and the shop wants to charge me 300 dollars to fix the whole thing.

Hey guys, new here, I have the same problem... Crack in the seam of the T. So far I've been able to pull the housing off but it was a pain, the thermostat housing is about 1in away from the lower radiator fan and the bolts for the housing are like an inch and half long which made seperating it from the engine block a pain. I did get it off but broke the thermostat in the process, no biggy since the new housing comes with one.

The part from the local Jag dealer here in town is $146 and no other parts store in town carries it It does come with the upper radiator hoses as well as the thermostat which is why it costs so much.

About to go get the part now and attempt to put it all back together...

Default water distribution pipe

I believe you are talking about what is called a water distribution pipe! I ordered one from Auto Parts Wharehouse on line and paid $49.00 for it.

I had some steam rising up from the front of my grill the other day. I think there's a mess under my airbox. ...guessing it's likely to be my upper radiator hose. What we're calling the T pipe.

I checked gaudinjaguarparts dot com for upper radiator hose. I think I found it for $126.00 but they don't show a part no. or much detail. No pics.

Check this link and tell me if I'm crazy?

I got the Upper Radiator hose from Jaguarparts.com delivered for $115.00. The Jag dealer wanted $487.00 parts & labor to replace it, so I saved some cake by doing it myself but, not an easy part to replace imho.

Question: Does anyone recall the orientation of this part?

I have the new hose assembly in place, but I forget how this bracket was attached. Thanks!

Thanks clyons. It looks like the opening of the bracket faces down.

I'll be glad to get home today after work and finish this repair. ...It's kind of a knuckle scraper!
