grinding noise coming from case drivers side .....?

2005 jaguar xtype 3.0 I hear a grinding noise coming from case drivers side I jacked car off the ground and the car is in park and the wheels spin is that normal how can they spin free in park ?

Timster, this is possible since you have an 05 as the transfer case is an open differential and requires both wheels to spin in the same direction to prevent motion. Granted, it may also be possible that the grinding noise that you are hearing is either a broken CV joint or possibly something inside the transfer case that is bad which may also be the case. Not enough information is supplied to give a solid answer either way.
