Humming/buzzing from dash on X type

Humming/buzzing from dash on X type
Its an 04 X type, its not the fan as its there when I get in first thing.
I've only just aquired the car and noticed it the past week. any ideas please?
My wife has the same car but 05 model and hers doe not have the problem.
The sound is like an electrical transformer humming you sometimes get from home audio electricals.
Anyone advise please?
