These are about the most common codes and there are many many posts telling you what to do. Start by reading them until you get it.

Default Code issues

Hey Harry,

Ok this is what you need to check. There are 12 gaskets under the manifold. Change those first. You can get them at autozone for about 30 bucks. Next the big imt rings on the side of the manifold 2 black circles. Change those o rings . Then there is a red plastic vacuum line that goes from the back of the manifold and attaches to the fuel rail i believe.

Next is the 2 lines on top of the Manifold . Check these for any kind of damage. They do crack and leak. Now the pcv valve off the valve cover. Replace that and check the hose going to the manifold. If its not the ribbed one, i would replace it with one that is ribbed.

That will cover all the vacuum issues in the engine bay and that will rid you of any of the p0170 codes.

Any questions or if you need help locating stuff. Feel free to call me .

Hope it helps,
The Dr

Oh yeah, heaven help anyone who just wants to have the answers handed to them without using the SEARCH function in this forum where NEARLY EVERYTHING has been discussed ad nauseam. Instead resort to insults, bullying, posting b.s. Info (@ Car5) misleading present and future members. You m.s.o.b. (new acronym, lmao)!

I am guessing you are still having issues with the P0171 and P0174 these last two months to come back to this thread? If so, has there been anything tried to fix the situation yet and, if so, can you tell us what might have been done so far? Would help to narrow down the causes.

To resurrect an old issue, I would point out that A), each model of car now has computers to run it, B), each computer requires specific diagnostic and configuration software, and C), the only time there is a license issue is when a service shop takes money to work on stuff they're not competent to repair, without admitting their inability (only the government is permitted to do this).

P1582 Flight recorder data stored
electronic throttle monitor

This code is generated by one of the following issues

1) Inertia switch activated

2)Throttle failure causes default limp home mode

3)Engine starts and stumbles

4)Engine fails to start

5)engine stall

Apparently this code is generated if you let go of the key before the car starts as it logs it as a failure to start.

The code can only be deleted by Jaguar dealers apparently because its not a fault code as such but an information code.

P0174 means that the oxygen sensor reads that there is too much air compared to the fuel coming out of the bank 2 tailpipe.

P2503 is a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) for "Charging System Voltage Low"

P0302 code means that the cylinder 2 is misfiring or is randomly misfiring. Start by checking for intake leaks and if no leaks are found the next step is to replace the spark plugs on cylinder 2.

p1314 means that the catalytic converter is under a lot of stress and is burning too hot.

You can use the SEARCH function in this forum for solutions.

ValiJag, odds are, you have a bad coil. I would say to get yourself a new coil and replace the coil on cylinder 2 (if you open the hood/bonnet and stand between the headlights, cylinder 2 will be on the side nearest you, on the far left). You are lucky in that cylinder 2 is the easy one to get to and you don't have to remove anything. It is most likely the coil has failed. If you want to confirm the issue before moving on, then you will need to remove the air intake box and swap with the coil from cylinder #4 (the one in the front center) or with #6 (the one in the front on the right side, nearest the battery box). Put the car back together and start it up, reading the codes after a short run. The P0302 code should now be either P0304 or P0306. If the problem stays with cylinder 2, then you have a bad fuel injector. If the misfire moved, replace the coil. The P1314 and P1316 codes should clear shortly after clearing the reason for the misfire.
