my x type wont pass emissions but not giving me any codes and the service engine light is not on just had the alternator replaced and it was in the garage with the air intake off for about 3 months can does anyone have any Ideals what to do?

 

Can you tell us what it failed for? Were the emissions out the tail pipe too high? Could fail for the vapor recovery system, etc. What exactly failed on the report?

 

Yeah the battery was disonnected which resets the cars emmissions monitors and until theyre read and pass the car wont pass. You can have only 1 not in readiness status for your yr car. Go drive 30-50 miles on the freeway with no less tha a 1/3 nor more than 2/3 tank of gas. Halfway through the drive, pull over shutoff the car. Restart and keep going, that will useually complete the drive cycles

 

jaguar 0206, silly question, when you turn the key to the "RUN" position (do not start the motor), does a yellow light in the shape of an engine appear on the dash (should be in with the tach). If no, then you simply have a burned out bulb and then a code may be present. I would also say to make a stop by a local parts place and have them either rent you a code reader or some stores will read the codes for you. If there are no codes, then you have to do what Brutal said to get all the computer tests completed.

 

yeah the guy who put on the alternator said the car was not giving him a code to read just p0001 or p1000 which he said was a communication code but i know he did not drive it 30 to 50 miles i will try this thanks brutal
