For the last several months the clutch on my X-type has become harder to engage. My ankle hurts after driving in city traffic for a while. All the gears shift well and the car runs fine. Is this a sign that it will need a clutch job soon? What usually needs to be replaced if the clutch is too hard to engage? What's a reasonable amount of labor hours that I should expect my mechanic to charge?

Car now has 105k miles on it, I had purchased it at 75k mi. Not sure if last owner ever did a clutch job.
