Default 03 X-type--Driver door will not open from the inside

Okay here is my dilemma. The driver door doesn't open from the inside. Every time I want to get out of the car I have to put the window down and open the door from the outside. Needless to say this is very very annoying and embarrassing. I saw a couple of posts with something sort of like this but everyone seemed to have issues with the outer door handle and not the inside. If anyone has any suggestions or perhaps a post that describes how to fix it please let me know. I really don't want to have to take it to the dealer because they told me that it would be around $200-$400. Please help!

ShinigamiX, unfortunately, you are most likely looking at a broken cable between the interior door handle and the latch mechanism. The best advice that I can give you is to get to a spot where you can open up the door. From there, you will need to remove the interior door panel (if you need instructions, let me know). From there, get access to the back of the interior door handle and move it, see if the cable moves. Does the cable have some slack in it (more than being able to deflect it down slightly). If so, this is a sign of either a broken cable or a broken mount on the latch assembly. If you look at the latch and don't see the cable running up to the handle, it broke at the handle. Now the question is where the cable broke or the handle/latch mechanism broke. At this point, you are following the cable and seeing where things don't look right. As you look at the cable, it will be pretty obvious where the problem is. If the cable looks intact, pull on the interior door handle and watch the latch end. If the handle moves but the latch doesn't, broken cable inside the sheath.

Wish you luck.

Yeah I think it is a bad cable. I had the door panel off before I posted that and I only saw one cable coming from the lock and nothing was attached to the door handle.
