My car ran out of petrol I put fuel in it and the car started cranking but would not start. Have tried the inertia switch even changed the fuel pump after hours doing it the car still wont start. Mechanic said it is the sending unit on fuel pump but after trying second fuel pump the same the car is not starting anyone have any suggestions have checked all the fuses but am at a total loss now. This is my last chance before I have to scrap the car and its such a pity to do this as before the fuel ran out it was doing ok odd stutter when starting but now its looking grim

I would guess that since you run it dry, that you have air in the fuel rails and needs to be bled...Like I said just a guess...diesel engines will do this too.
